Abrasive Caps, Cones, Sleeves and Cartridge Rolls
Abrasive caps, cones, sleeves (spirabands) and cartridge rolls are used with a mandrel or are supplied ready mounted on a spindle.
They have a 3 or 6 mm spindle and are suitable for use with air tools, drills and bobbing sanders.
These small abrasives have been created to give access to areas which are normally difficult to access.
They enable easy access to complex areas, such as lattice work and internal areas inside pipes and tubes for example. They can be used for material removal, shaping, deburring, radiussing and finishing.
Spirabands
Spirabands are small abrasive belts which are used on a rubber mandrel. As the mandrel spins the spiraband is held in place by centrifugal tension. They are commonly used for grinding, shaping, deburring, and finishing hard to reach areas; when used the correct speed they are effective on all metals, wood and plastics.
Spirabands have excellent longevity even at high speeds, whilst giving good result when finishing stainless steel.
Smaller sleeves and spirabands made with zirconia or aluminium oxide abrasives can be used for a range of applications:
· Small shaping and detailing
· Automotive and aviation industries
· Construction of dies and models
· Wood and plastic processing industries
Longer spiral wound abrasive sleeves are used on bobbin sanders and are also used for a range of applications:
· Pattern and model making
· Woodworking
· Instrument finishing
Product Information:
· Zirconium oxide grit abrasives for stainless steel and hard metals
· Aluminium oxide grit abrasives for other metals, wood and plastics
· 10 to 60mm diameter
· 40, 60, 80 and 150 grit available
· For use on spiraband holders with a 6mm spindle
Cartridge Rolls
Cartridge Rolls are a solid roll of abrasive cloth in a conical or cylindrical form which fit onto a small mandrel with a tapered end. They are easy to use giving no vibration and are quick to change.
As the spiral- wound rolls become worn with use new abrasive material is exposed, ensuring an even finish.
Applications:
· Sanding in angles and difficult corners
· Machine mark removal in hard to access areas
· Internal sanding and de-burring
· Working in internal and complex areas
· Finishing in lattice work and mouldings
Product Information:
· Aluminium oxide grit abrasives
· 6 to 25mm diameter
Abrasive Caps
Abrasive caps are shaped similarly to a thimble and are constructed from a single layer of abrasive material. They are used on a shaped rubber mandrel and are excellent for deburring in all areas which are hard to reach, where the side faces are able to be used. They are easily changeable and available in a range of grits, shapes and sizes.
Applications:
· Machine fabrication
· Injection moldings
· Precision and mechanical applications
· Model construction
· Aerospace
Product Information:
· Available as domes, cones, points or flat shapes, with supporting rubber mandrels
· Aluminium oxide grit abrasives
